The Specialist Matthew Pollini Memorial Fund is an official 501c3 non-profit organization, named after fallen Massachusetts Army National Guard soldier, Matthew Pollini from Rockland, MA. Matthew died while serving his country out on mission in Al Kut, Iraq on January 22, 2009. SPC. Pollini was a special soldier that did everything he could to help as many people as possible. SPC Pollini was lighthearted and loved to joke around to make people happy and had the ability to make soldiers smile even in the most stressful times. The SPC Matthew Pollini Memorial Fund was created by his fellow soldiers to keep Matt’s name and memory alive.
The mission statement is: “Assist victims of natural or man-made disasters as well as soldiers and first responders in severe need due to occupational hazards”.
The Pollini Fund provides immediate financial relief to those in our local communities that are in dire need. We provide that sense of community to help reduce stress and show veterans there is support and they are not alone. We have assisted many first responders and veterans throughout Massachusetts and surrounding states in their time of need. As one example, the most recent initiative was Operation Heat Homes where this past winter, we provided heating assistance for 18 Massachusetts National Guard families all of whom had very young children at home and/or very elderly parents at home they were caring for. We have helped a young military family get caught up on mortgage payment and car payment so their house wouldn’t get foreclosed. We have assisted a veteran in need by paying for a two week rental car so that he can continue to attend training to obtain his service dog.
The Pollini Fund was established in 2010 and will be around for a lot longer. We believe in our mission and we will keep Matthew’s name and memory alive and help those heroes in the most need.
